Question 1

Who is Field Wizard for?

Accepted Answer

Canadian trades and small service businesses that send people to customers' homes and businesses: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, gas fitting, locksmiths, pool and spa, handyman and general contractors, and similar. It works for an owner-operator with one truck and for a team with an office person and several techs.

Question 2

Does it handle GST/HST?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your province's tax is applied to invoices, input tax credits are tracked from your expenses, and a GST/HST worksheet lines up with the lines on your return. Your accountant should still review your figures before you file.

Question 3

Is the payroll add-on legal for my business?

Accepted Answer

It calculates CPP, CPP2, EI and federal and Ontario income tax using CRA's published formulas and each employee's TD1 amounts, and it produces remittance amounts, due dates and T4 slips. It is built for Ontario employers. Employer Health Tax, WSIB premiums and Records of Employment are not included, and we recommend your accountant check your first pay run. Rates are re-checked every three months and nothing changes until you approve it.

Question 4

Does payroll work outside Ontario?

Accepted Answer

Today the payroll add-on is built for Ontario. The rest of Field Wizard works anywhere in Canada, with your province's sales tax.

Question 5

How does the AI receptionist work?

Accepted Answer

Calls to your business number are answered by an AI voice assistant that says it is an AI, finds out what the caller needs, and records the message or books a job request onto your dispatch board. If a caller reports a gas smell or carbon monoxide alarm, it tells them to leave the building and call 911, and texts you straight away. You can have it ring your phone first and answer only if you don't, and callers can ask for a person. It costs $49.99 CAD a month and includes 150 minutes; extra minutes are $0.20 each.

Question 6

What does the receipt scanner read?

Accepted Answer

Vendor, date, GST/HST, total, payment method and a suggested category. You can photograph a receipt, upload a folder, or forward an e-receipt to your private receipts email address. Scans are saved as drafts for you to approve, so nothing enters your books by surprise.

Question 7

Can I move over from Housecall Pro, Jobber or a spreadsheet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can import your customer list from a spreadsheet or your old system, and we offer data migration help. Sign up before December 2026 and the migration service is 40% off.

Question 8

Is my data separate from other companies?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every company gets its own database and its own login, and nothing is shared with any other business on the platform. Field Wizard is hosted on Cloudflare's network with encrypted HTTPS.
